Aramid fiber is called polybenzoylenediamine, and carbon fiber, ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene fiber and the world’s three major high-performance fiber, relatively small density, high strength, high modulus, high temperature resistance, corrosion resistance, insulation, is widely used in military, aerospace, electronic appliances, transportation, construction, medical and other fields. Aramid fiber is a synthetic aromatic polyamide fiber, which is made of a synthetic linear polymer (at least 85% of the amide bond is directly connected to two aromatic rings) composed of the amide bond interconnecting aromatic ring (Ar-CONH-Ar). The main chain is composed of the aromatic ring and the amide bond, and the aromatic ring structure is rigid. The polymer chain is stretched to form a rod-like structure.
At the same time, the linear structure of the molecular chain makes the aramid fiber space utilization rate is high, so the unit volume can accommodate more polymer, so the strength is higher. Different from the common flexible polymer molecular chains, the main chain structure of para-aramid fiber is mainly composed of the rod-like molecular structure formed by the benzene ring. Due to the presence of large conjugated benzene ring, the molecular chain segment is difficult to rotate internally, so it presents a linear rigid structure.
